CloudCUBE 2008 boxThe new CloudCUBE version integrates completely in AutoCAD® 2008 and related vertical products. CloudCUBE 2008 has been enhanced in its most important functionalities. Particular attention was dedicated to points decimation filter, dynamic redrawing and mesh computing algorithm.

The software has been improved with new and important commands like, for instance, the section functionalities (horizontal, multiple horizontal, vertical, multiple vertical) which can be computed directly on point clouds or 3D models, normals managing, contour lines computing directly on point clouds or 3D models, “partition colour” functionality and much more.

Module New commands and enhancement
 MANAGER
  • Enhancement of smart decimation filter for points, to reduce their number while preserving the contours of objects.
  • Adding of “partition colour” colouring for points, which is useful to quickly recognize the clouds in the same DWG.
  • Increase of the automatic points redrawing performances which allows to decide the detail level with which clouds are visualized according to the user’s needs and the computing performance of the computer.
  • Introduction of normal managing: a set of command to visualize, invert and fix normals. These functionalities are useful to prepare a 3D model for production of virtual reality or rapid prototyping.
  • New command to import in the current DWG a set of selected AutoCAD® points as point cloud in the CloudCUBE database.
 MESH
  • Enhancement of mesh computing algorithm, which is a 3D (not 2.5!) triangulation algorithm to be used to triangulate any surveyed object (also by “noisy” laser scanner).
 DRAW
  • Introduction of powerful section potentialities which can be used both directly on point clouds and three-dimensional models produced with CloudCUBE. The new section functionalities are:
  1. horizontal section computed as to a generic section plane which can be decided by the user;
  2. multiple horizontal sections defined as to a set of sections planes parallel and equidistant from each other of a step set by the user;
  3. vertical section on a sequence of bounded planes defined by the segments of a polyline drawn by the user;
  4. multiple vertical sections defined by bounded planes, with a a customizable width, perpendicular to segments of a polyline and equidistant from the polyline itself.
  • New functionality for contour lines computing directly on point clouds and three-dimensional models produced with CloudCUBE.
  • Introduction of the functionality for rototranslating a generic section from the UCS where it has been computed to the current UCS. The command useful e.g. for producing architectural sections.
 SURFACE
  • New functionalities for transforming quadrangular or mixed grids into triangular grids.
  • Commands to import quadrangular or mixed grids in the external CloudCUBE database as triangulated point clouds, allowing to manage and edit them by all the CloudCUBE commands, such as decimation and smooth filters. Meshes can be re-exported to AutoCAD® by the mesh materialization command.
